CINEMALAYA 2010: Ang Paglilitis ni Andres Bonifacio.

[currently listening to: Lady Gaga]

This July, I had the chance to watch one of the Directors Showcase in Cinemalaya 2010 in the Cultural Center of the Philippines.

My Papa was persistent in getting tickets to this film, Ang Paglilitis ni Andres Bonifacio, since DUH, he is a hardcore Bonifacio fan. This one's directed by Mario O'Hara. The synopsis from Cinemalaya's site is as follows:

Ang Paglilitis ni ANDRES Bonifacio is the untold story of the trial of Andres Bonifacio under the Revolutionary Government of Pres. Emilio Aguinaldo.  Two leaders, Andres Bonifacio, Supremo of the Katipuneros, and Emilio Aguinaldo, president of the Revolutionary Government, made their way to fight for freedom for the Filipinos against the dominant rule, fought for a cause and for a reason to be one nation.  Yet only one should rule.  This was the start of Philippine politics.  Ang Paglilitis ni Andres Bonifacio is a film documentation of Philippine history put to screen and megged by Mario O’Hara.  And now, let the people be the judge whether Andres Bonifacio is guilty or not guilty of treason.

And it was a good film. I ended up crying through the last part.
Anyway, for me, the most heart-breaking part was Gregoria de Jesus's poem for Andres. It was embarassing, I think you would easily hear my sobbing since it was just a small room.
I dunno, but try searching for Gregoria's poem, it really IS...heart-breaking.

Ang weird lang coz Papa kept on arguing with himself (and the director?) after the film. I think pinanood niya lang yun para maprove yung belief niya and seeing na there were SOME parts na hindi tumugma, inaway niya agad. HAHA. WTH??!?!

The screening was in Tanghalang Huseng Batute. July 12, 9pm. And it was a full-length film. It ended pretty late. Buti na lang mya bukas pa na restaurant that time.
Nagdinner na lang kami si Hap-Chan sa Harbour.
